Please enjoy the photos below featuring some of my critters and hobbies.

What I stand for…

I stand for our great United States of America, our military, law enforcement, all first responders, and those who step up to serve our community, whether elected or volunteer, and for all support staff who help make it happen. We are nothing without each other.

My commitment is to ensure the Treasurer's office is a welcoming environment. We all must conduct business in the historic courthouse from time to time. The Treasurer's office should be a pleasant, inviting place to handle your business needs.

My focus will be on fiscal responsibility and ensuring the treasurer’s office complies with state law and provides transparency and accountability.

What’s important to me…

The most important things for me are my husband, our family, service to the community, and the many blessings of living in this mountain community since 1997.  Over the past several years, our sweet dogs have been a major part of our lives, along with our children and seven grandchildren.  I enjoy working in our garden and sharing quality lessons on where our food comes from, and sharing its bounty with our friends and family.  On average, my little garden will produce over 200 lbs. of produce per season.  We also have Icelandic chickens, and are entertained by their amazing personalities. They are such a treat to visit every day.

Competency

Over the many years in the finance industry, I have accumulated a broad range of knowledge, as you’ll see described below.  While working in corporate finance for publicly traded companies, in mortgage financing, and with state and local government entities, attention to detail was imperative, and organizational skills and flexibility were a must!

While working for a large Colorado Ski Resort that covered 40 ski resorts within the United States and Canada. My responsibilities included serving as the Program Manager for the Corporate Card program. Working with the C-Suite, the bank, and employees. Additionally, I was the main point of contact, reconciling invoices for alcohol purchased for all resorts.

As a publicly traded company, financial reporting had to be completed in a timely and accurate manner.  The average monthly journal entries ranged from 1.5 million to 2.8 million per card type, totaling thousands of lines of data.  Accuracy was imperative!

I have had the pleasure of working in the finance department at a Colorado university, where I was a Fund Accountant for over 300 Funds.  During this time, one of my duties was to reconcile the Corporate Purchase Card and Travel Card spending reports for professors.  Each purchase had to be made in accordance with the donor specification, the University guidelines, and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).

While working for one of our local casinos, which is also a publicly traded company, one of my many tasks was reconciling the accounts of three departments for monthly financial reporting, accounts payable, and inventory control.

I have prepared corporate and personal tax returns. Fun fact: when I took my test, I had to calculate the Alternative Minimum Tax by hand, without a computer!

I have always enjoyed preparing tax returns.  The tax forms are all the same, but each client or company is unique.  That’s what made this service fun and challenging.

As you can see, I have worked with the public, state and local government, and corporate finance.  I know the importance of good governance and excellent customer service.

Something unusual about me:

I also have a creative side and enjoy hands-on work, so I attended an accredited school, became a certified heavy equipment operator, and I hold a CDL (Commercial Drivers License) with every endorsement available.
